Bar animal cruelty on campus DU and all the institutions under its purview.
The Issue
We are all aware of the fact that animal cruelty is a punishable offence in our country under several sections of the IPC & the PCA Act 1960 but yet there are those who indulge in it and manage to get away.
This needs to change and we therefore want all important educational institutions to set an example and issue appropriate instructions in this regard.
Jamia Millia Islamia a central university by an act of parliament has already set an example by issuing instructions barring anyone on campus from indulging in an act of animal cruelty and permitting the students to look after and feed the animals on campus.
There have been instances of animal cruelty on institutes under the purview of DU and nothing concrete has been done
to address this issue.
In view of the above you are requested to kindly issue appropriate instructions in this regard and set an example.
