A quick update on the Vancouver Aquarium asking the Supreme Court for a "judicial review" of the Vancouver Park Board's decision to ban whale captivity. Turns out that the review will not happen until October and if the judge decides then, that the Aquarium didn't get a fair chance to state their case (as the Aquarium claims), the Park Board will need to hold another round of public Whale Hearings.
If the judge decides that the Park Board does not have the authority to ban cetacean performances, then the bylaw will be amended to exclude that clause - but the ban on the importation of more cetaceans will stand, which will eventually bring a forced phase out of cetacean exhibits.
Best results would be if the Supreme Court judge just dismisses the Aquarium's sniveling and whining reps, exposing them for bringing such nonsensical complaints and wasting taxpayers' money. The time has come to end cetacean captivity in Stanley Park.
