Petition updateNO NEW DOLPHINS - NO NEW WHALES
at the Vancouver AquariumVancouver Aquarium Belugas Update

Here's the thing.
One Beluga whale died on Wednesday and the other one is now sick. That leaves no Beluga whales for the "Scuba Claus" (see photo) Beluga Show where a diver dressed as Santa Claus performs with the whales.
Remember that the Vancouver Aquarium has contracts with a ton of wholesale tour operators and other tourist entertainment agencies - so the Aquarium NEEDS to put on the Christmas show all throughout December to make more buckets of money (non-profit, my ass) - but there are no Belugas left to put on a whale show!
What do you think the Aquarium is planning to do next? Miss out on the buckets of money the little Christmas show brings in four times a day? Consider the fact that SeaWorld reps are already here in Vancouver. Sure they are trying to help figure out what's killing the whales (can you say "captivity"?) - but maybe they are figuring out how to fill up that tank with new Beluga whales because, as you all know, the show must go on!
Our great concern is that before we know it, a couple of whales will arrive from SeaWorld, ready to perform at the Christmas show (which happens at every whale jail in the world by the way). We say: ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! No more whales in captivity! It's time to shut the Beluga tank down - and just like the Orca whale exhibit, never bring another poor Beluga whale into the Vancouver Aquarium.
If you agree, please share this post with others as every signature counts, especially right now!
Thank you!
