We are encouraged that our friend and colleague Lori Marino's efforts to set up cetacean sanctuaries is actually happening! Science has proven beyond a doubt that whales suffer horribly when kept in captivity, just like any caged human would, but worse. This is why we couldn't believe Vancouver Aquarium CEO John Nightingale making yet another self-serving comment that intentionally misleads the public in order to keep exploiting performing whales and dolphins. Check out his latest comment: “I understand the human desire to say: ‘I wouldn’t be happy living in an aquarium; let’s put them back in the ocean,’ ” he said. “But I think … we do them a huge disservice when we use human thinking and emotion.”
