Just because you have signed the petition asking the Vancouver Park Board to stop the importation of new dolphins into the Vancouver Aquarium... doesn't mean that you have signed the MOST IMPORTANT government petition right now asking for an end to whale captivity in Canada. A Senate Bill to end the captivity of performing whales and dolphins in Canada (while allowing for rescue, rehab and release) has recently been tabled in the Senate. If approved, Members of Parliament (MPs) will have to decide if the Senate Bill will be turned into law making it a criminal offence to keep cetaceans in captivity, because it is considered cruelty to animals! This petition has a time limit to gather signatures and that's June 18th. The more signatures, the more motivated MPs will be to enact a law to end whale captivity in Canada.
