Hi All,
Hope you are enjoying the summer!
Here is a link to the results of the School Slow Zones on Arterials Pilot Project: https://vancouver.ca/files/cov/2024-05-23-council-memo-rts-14598-school-slow-zones-pilot-results.pdf
It looks like the 40 km/h speed limit at Stratford Hall is going to be permanent. While that is good news, I think there is an argument for bringing the speed limit at Stratford Hall down further. I encourage you to look at Figure 1. While somes schools experienced a reduction in speeds after this pilot project was initiated, the speeds at Stratford Hall did not really change 1 year after the project began. Furthermore, we still have the highest speeds compared to all the other schools in the pilot study.
It is my belief that the speed limit at Stratford Hall should be reduced further to 30 km/h, and that this is supported by evidence from the results of the pilot study. Does anybody agree?
