I have great news: video game platform Steam has taken down 'Rape Day,' the controversial video game that encouraged murder and sexual violence towards women.
Steam issued the following statement on their blog: “After significant fact-finding and discussion, we think 'Rape Day' poses unknown costs and risks and therefore won't be on Steam.”
I’m glad to hear Rape Day is a no go. This move on behalf of Steam is in response to your support: thank you all for signing and sharing my petition!
I hope that this prompts Valve Corporation/Steam to rethink their policies. I also hope this game does not find another outlet for distribution. Video games should not promote sexual violence!
You can read Steam's full statement here.
