Thank you to all of you who signed this petition and helped spread the word that, as a society, we will not tolerate a school shooting video game to be published on massive platforms like Valve's Steam Games! The publisher, Acid, is still attempting to launch the game on his own platform - so if you'd like to be involved in the process of getting this shut down, Sandy Hook Promise has been petitioning the web hosts to remove the sites and they are currently petitioning PayPal to ban the creator of Active Shooter so he cannot use their software to get money for the game. Please sign here so PayPal hears the call to act: https://action.sandyhookpromise.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/index.sjs?action_KEY=21836 Also - if you live in WA and think we would benefit from some stricter gun regulations like background checks, mandatory waiting periods, safety trainings and an age limit of 21 to buy semi-automatic rifles - please sign I-1639. People with signature sheets are posted outside of most Trader Joe's and around most cities wearing orange - so please find them and sign. The petition needs 250,000 signatures by June 30 to reach the Nov. ballot. It has such a short timeline because the NRA held up the measure in court for as long as they possibly could! If you can volunteer to get signatures, please do! Here is more info on the bill and the site where you can sign up to volunteer. https://gunresponsibility.org/reduce-assault-weapon-violence-initiative/ Thank you all for your support with this as well! Together, we can make change! I will leave you all with this... "To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness. What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something, If we remember those times and places -- and there are so many -- where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction. And if we do act, in however a small way, we don't have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory." -- Howard Zinn With gratitude, hope and LOVE, - Stephanie
