Limited reduction in parking costs will be available for a few employees

The University of Victoria has responded to requests from the campus unions with the following statement:

"After consultation with staff unions and to recognize that the transition from the current annual parking rate structure may disproportionately affect front-line administrative and support employees, we are introducing a 3 year phased implementation for employees who are current annual permit holders and who make less than $68,000 annually. These new adjusted monthly rates will be $60 on September 2022, $70 on September 2023, and the full approved rate on September 2024."

The proposed reduction in parking rate for those making less than $68,000 annually still equates to a 20% increase in the first year. The reduced price is only available to existing pass holders and would not be universally applied.
