1. While Israel has continued to bomb hospitals, including Gaza's main cancer center, its remaining hospitals are collapsing. 

Surgical procedures, including amputations, are being performed without anesthesia on Palestinian children. 

2. Reports reveal that over a dozen Israeli combatants were killed by Hamas in a botched attempt to rescue hostages. 

A hostage crisis situation does not require a military response. If the US and Israeli governments are serious about securing the safe release of hostages, the best way to maximize those chances are by a ceasefire and negotiations.

While governments will claim they do not negotiate with groups they consider "terrorists," there are in fact historical cases of hostage/prisoner exchanges with subnational groups. There is also a long history of prisoner swaps with rival nations during times of conflict.  

3. Israeli forces have conducted forced disappearances of Palestinians. Palestinians in the West Bank are being ethnically cleansed and subjected to torture by Israeli forces (including by unlawful settlers).
