Neonicotinoids are new ways farmers keep "pests" away from crops. Recent studies have linked neonicotinoids to the honeybee population decline, known as colony collapse disorder. 

When bees pollinate flowers or crops that have been exposed to neonicotinoids, the nectar brought back to the hives is polluted, and can wipe out an entire bee colony.

Without honeybees, 30% of food crops and 90% of wild plants won't get pollinated. Even worse, research suggests the residue of neonicotinoids could be harmful to humans.

Neonicotinoids are banned in many other countries, including European Union. However, the United States is still using them.
