Member of the Ahmadi Religion exposes conditions of Food in Turkish Detention Center for refugees

In the latest leaked testimony, one of our detained members from Azerbaijan, Namiq Bunyadzade has shared alarming accounts regarding food provisions and medical care at the Edirne deportation center where they’re currently held. He reports that hair and insects have been found in their food on numerous occasions. When they expressed that the food was causing stomach pain, the response they received was dismissive, with authorities suggesting that they simply refrain from eating it.

Recently, they were served smelly food that seemed unfit for consumption, evoking fears of potential food poisoning. They express concern that if someone were to fall ill from consuming such food, no one would take responsibility for their health.

Namiq also reports that some detainees have developed rashes, including Namiq himself, attributing the condition to the food they are provided. Others suffer from stomachaches, and the dire situation has escalated to the point where they had to go without food altogether. Occupants of other rooms within the detention facility have voiced similar complaints.

Namiq expresses awareness of Europe’s supposed aid, yet he asserts that it is not reflected in the conditions of the deportation center. Additionally, Namiq raises concerns about the medical care provided. He mentions that those seeking medical help for issues such as toothaches, stomachaches, and breathing problems have been given identical medications, raising doubts about the quality of care provided. He questions who will be held accountable if food poisoning cases arise.

Furthermore, Namiq highlights a discrepancy between staged photographs taken by authorities and the actual conditions they endure. He observes that photographs are manipulated to present an appealing image, while the reality remains far from sanitary. Although it is unclear to whom these pictures are being sent, they are firmly believed to be merely for show. 

Namiq Bunyadzade concludes his testimony by drawing attention to the wounds already present on his body, further stressing on the unsanitary and unsafe conditions in which the members are being held. His accounts provide troubling insights into the ongoing struggles and neglect faced by our members in detention, reinforcing the urgent need for intervention and attention to their well-being.

في أحدث شهادة مسربة حصلنا علينا مؤخراً، شارك نامق بونيادزاده، أحد أعضائنا المحتجزين من أذربيجان، تفاصيلاً مقلقة بشأن الطعام والرعاية الطبية المقدمة في مركز الترحيل في أدرنة المحتجز فيه الأعضاء حاليًا. وذكر أنه عُثر على شعر وحشرات في طعامهم في مناسبات عديدة، وعندما أعربوا عن أن الطعام يسبب آلامًا في المعدة، قالت لهم السلطات ببساطة أن يمتنعوا عن تناوله

ومؤخراً قُدم لهم طعام كريه الرائحة بدا وكأنه غير صالح، فأثار ذلك مخاوفهم من احتمالية إصابتهم بالتسمم الغذائي، وعبروا عن قلقهم من أنه إذا مرض شخص ما من تناول مثل هذا الطعام، فلن يتحمل أحد المسؤولية

كما أفاد نامق أن بعض المعتقلين أصيبوا بطفح جلدي، بمن فيهم نامق نفسه، بسبب الطعام الذي يقدمونه لهم، ويعاني البعض الآخر من آلام في المعدة، وتصاعد الوضع المزري إلى درجة أنهم اضطروا إلى الامتناع عن الطعام في أحد الأيام. وقد أعرب آخرون يشغلون الغرف الأخرى داخل مركز الاحتجاز عن شكاوى مماثلة

قال نامق أنه على علم بالمساعدات الأوروبية، لكنه يؤكد أنها لا تنعكس في أحوال مركز الترحيل، بالإضافة إلى ذلك، يعبر نامق عن مخاوف بشأن الرعاية الطبية المقدمة، ويذكر أن أولئك الذين يسعون للحصول على مساعدة طبية لمشاكل مثل آلام الأسنان وآلام المعدة ومشاكل التنفس قد تم إعطاؤهم نفس أدوية، مما يثير الشكوك حول جودة الرعاية المقدمة، ويتساءل من سيحاسب إذا ظهرت حالات تسمم غذائي
