Urging the Attorney-General’s Chambers to Consider an Appeal
The Issue
公众正在关注;
家属并不孤单;
请签署这项联署;
请分享这份请愿;
Justice for Yap Shing Xuen.

A Public Petition Urging the Attorney-General’s Chambers to Consider an Appeal
📌 We are launching this petition not to incite hatred, not to undermine the judiciary, and not to replace the courts with public opinion.
📌 Our request is simple, lawful and peaceful:
We urge the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) of Malaysia to carefully consider filing an appeal against the High Court’s decision in the Yap Shing Xuen case, so that the matter may be reviewed by a higher court in accordance with the law.
📌 On 14 October 2025, 16-year-old Yap Shing Xuen was fatally attacked at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya. Her death shocked the nation and raised deep concerns among parents, students and members of the Malaysian public about safety within schools.
📌 On 14 September 2026, the Shah Alam High Court acquitted and discharged the 15-year-old accused of the murder charge. According to publicly reported information, the court accepted the defence of insanity under Section 84 of the Penal Code and ordered the teenager to be placed at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta for treatment and detention, subject to the applicable legal process.
📌 We respect the decision of the Court. We respect the rule of law. But respecting the judiciary does not mean that the public cannot lawfully express its concerns, nor does it prevent the prosecution from exercising its legal right to appeal. Through this petition, we therefore respectfully call upon the Attorney-General’s Chambers to:
_________________________________
[We urge the AGC to:]
1. Carefully review the full grounds of judgment, evidence and legal issues arising from the case, and consider filing an appeal in accordance with the law.
2. Allow the Court of Appeal, where legally appropriate, to review the legal and evidential issues arising from the High Court’s decision, including the application of the insanity defence.
3. Ensure that Yap Shing Xuen’s family has the opportunity to continue seeking justice through the proper legal process.
4. Ensure that all relevant legal issues are fully examined through the appropriate judicial channels.
5. Continue addressing the wider concerns surrounding school safety, student protection and the safety of children within educational institutions.
_________________________________________________________________
[We want to make one thing absolutely clear:]
This petition is NOT a call for public trial or vigilante justice. The accused is entitled to all legal protections afforded by Malaysian law, including protections applicable to juveniles and the right to due process. We reject and do not support harassment, threats, doxxing, hate speech, intimidation or any form of online vigilantism.
[Our message is simple:]
Let the law take its proper course. Yap Shing Xuen can no longer speak for herself. Her family, however, continues to seek answers and justice through the legal system. As members of the public, we cannot decide the case for the courts. But we can make our voices heard through a peaceful, lawful and responsible petition.
📌 We can show that:
The public is watching.
The family is not alone.
A young life must not be forgotten.
📌 We respectfully call upon Malaysians and everyone who cares about justice, child safety and the integrity of the legal process:
Please sign this petition.
Please share this petition responsibly.
Please let your voice be heard through peaceful and lawful means.
📌 We do not call for hatred. We do not call for revenge. We do not call for public opinion to override the law. We ask only for this: A lawful review. A fair opportunity for the family to continue seeking justice through the courts.
Justice for Yap Shing Xuen.
Let her name be remembered.
Let justice continue its course.
