Re: Petition Regarding the Termination of Employment Contracts of Essential Health Personnel in Namibian ARV Clinics
Your Excellency,
On behalf of concerned citizens, I respectfully submit for your urgent attention the following matter regarding the unfortunate termination of employment contracts for essential health personnel in Namibia’s ARV clinics.
Please find below the link to our online petition, which outlines in detail our concerns and appeals:
The petition calls upon your esteemed office, together with the Honourable Minister of Health and Social Services, Madam Esperance Luvindao, to urgently intervene in the serious consequences arising from the decision of the United States government to reduce funding for African HIV/AIDS programmes.
We are deeply concerned that the subsequent public statements made by former Minister of Health, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, may have unintentionally created false hope for patients, health professionals, and the entire national HIV/AIDS programme. The livelihoods of health staff and the lives of thousands of patients on ARVs now face uncertainty, which may have devastating effects if not addressed swiftly.
We therefore humbly request your proactive leadership in ensuring the continuity of care for HIV/AIDS patients and the protection of employment for the health personnel who serve them. We kindly urge that this matter receive your consideration before 30 September 2025.
We thank you in advance for your time, attention, and commitment to safeguarding the health and wellbeing of the Namibian people. We remain hopeful for your positive response.
Yours sincerely,
B.B. Bobejé
