We, the undersigned residents of Olympia Opaline and Sequel, Navallur, OMR (Old Mahabalipuram Road) area, would like to bring to your esteemed attention a pressing issue that is severely affecting the lives of over 8000 individuals and 2000 families residing in our community.

As you may be aware, our community has been reliant on water tankers for our day-to-day water needs due to the scarcity of alternative water sources in our vicinity. Recently, the District Collector of Chengalpattu informed the Water Tanker Owner Association of the need to restrict the use of groundwater and introduced guidelines to prevent the exploitation of this precious resource.

Regrettably, in response to these necessary measures, the Water Tankers Union has declared an indefinite strike commencing on Aug 30th. This strike has left us in a dire situation as we have no access to any alternative water sources, and we are entirely dependent on the water supplied by these tankers.

The strike is not only causing immense inconvenience but also inflicting significant financial burdens on our community. We currently spend over ₹20 lakhs per month to meet our water needs, and this expense is likely to increase if the strike persists.

We find ourselves at the mercy of the water tanker operators, with no viable alternatives if the strike prolongs beyond a day or two. This situation not only threatens our daily lives but also poses a risk to our health, hygiene, and overall well-being.

Therefore, we, the undersigned residents, earnestly request your immediate intervention to address this ongoing water crisis. We humbly request that you consider the following actions:

1. Facilitate dialogue between the Water Tankers Union and relevant authorities to reach an amicable resolution that ensures a consistent and uninterrupted water supply to our community while adhering to sustainable groundwater practices.

2. Explore and implement long-term solutions to provide our community with a reliable and sustainable source of water, reducing our dependence on water tankers.

3. Take necessary steps to ensure the strike does not cause further financial hardship to the residents of the Olympia Opaline and Sequel, Navallur, OMR.

We understand the importance of conserving groundwater resources for the future, but we also appeal for your understanding of our immediate plight and the critical need for water in our daily lives.

We have full faith in your leadership and commitment to the welfare of the people of our state. Your timely intervention in this matter will greatly alleviate the suffering of our community and provide us with a permanent solution to this ongoing crisis.
