Dear supporters,

Melissa here. Thank you so much to each one of you who has signed and shared the petition so far - we're so excited to have reached over 92,000 signatures!

As you are all undoubtedly aware, we have a general election coming up on the 12th December, and Brexit has been dominating the conversation. While the Brexit extension also means that child refugees are not yet being abandoned by the UK, it does not mean that they will be supported after January 31st (current Brexit deadline).

If we leave the EU at the end of January, there will still be no provision for unaccompanied children in Europe to be reunited with family here.

We want to ensure that our general election candidates are prioritising the safe passage of child refugees. Now is the time when candidates are listening to constituents, trying to gather what people care about and what to support - now is the time for us to ask those candidates to ensure that refugee children are not left behind.

Please will you take two minutes to write to your local candidates, asking them to keep child refugees on the agenda?

I've written a short message (below) to make it easy, or alternatively, you can write your own message. You can find your local candidates and their contact details here - https://whocanivotefor.co.uk

1) Find your local candidates and their contact details on https://whocanivotefor.co.uk

2) Copy and paste the below message and send

3) Comment below to let us know who you've contacted, and if they respond!

Please don't forget to keep signing and sharing - let's get this petition to 100,000!

Many thanks for your support!!

Dear [candidate's name],

I am writing to ask you to support family reunification for child refugees in Europe in the upcoming election. As it stands, once we leave the EU, there will be no provision for unaccompanied children in Europe to be reunited with family here in the UK. I want our future government to provide better support for these vulnerable children, many of whom are living in terrible conditions on the streets or in overcrowded camps. Over 92,000 people have now signed a petition to keep the scheme. I urge you to put the safety of child refugees on the agenda by including family reunification in your campaign.

I wish you the best of luck with the campaign.
