Today marks a crucial vote in the UN General Assembly. While resolutions passed in this forum are not legally binding, their moral and political weight is significant. I am organizing a protest at the UN Headquarters to urge the UN to take extraordinary measures, bypassing the Security Council if necessary, to address the ongoing crisis in Palestine.
It is within the UN's capabilities to provide direct military security to Palestine and to implement forceful measures such as a ceasefire, sanctions, and an arms embargo against Israel. The UN’s mandate for peace and security provides a basis for such actions.
Moreover, every UN member state has a moral and legal obligation to prevent acts of genocide. States, especially those with diplomatic relations with Israel, can exert influence through various means, including diplomatic pressure, arms embargoes, and financial sanctions. These actions are not just potential strategies; they are necessary responses that should have been initiated promptly.
I have created a YouTube video to raise awareness about this issue. The success of our initiative relies heavily on public awareness and pressure. I urge you to watch the video, share it widely, and encourage others to do the same. Our goal is to mobilize public opinion to a point where UN member states and media outlets feel compelled to act justly and promptly. Increased public scrutiny can lead to faster action from the UN, ensure media impartiality, and prevent censorship of Palestinian voices on social media.
