The Associated Press reports, "Donald Trump boosts nuclear power, regulators seek to eliminate a longstanding radiation safety practice".  

It is an alarming development, which we need to confront now by submitting comments on the rulemaking process. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) under pressure from Executive Order 14300 is moving to eliminate ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achieveable) ~~a 50 year regulation standard which will greatly weaken radiation protections for industry workers, people living near nuclear power plants, our air, soil, water, and food. So much is at stake.

Yazan Alwadi - Doctor of Philosophy, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and one of the authors of a national analysis of cancer mortality and proximity to nuclear power plants in the United States published in Feb, 2026. His research focuses on the health impacts of nuclear power, fracking, climate change, air pollution, extreme weather events, temperature variability, and occupational exposures.

Diane D’Arrigo – Radioactive Waste Project Director at Nuclear Information and Resource Services. Her main area of expertise is radioactive waste and radiation issues. She has been with NIRS since 1986, has a degree in chemistry and environmental studies, and work experience in analytical chemistry and biological research.

Dr. Chanese Forte’–A Scientist in the Global Security Program, specializing in environmental toxicology and epidemiology.  Their research focuses on the health and well-being of communities affected by nuclear weapons mining, exposure, and the threat of exposure.
