From Keepin’ It Real:
On June 10th, 2024, a (then) 33 year-old was arrested by Santa Cruz Police Officers for assault w/ intent to commit rape/ mayhem (2 counts), sexual battery- attempts to arouse (two counts), indecent exposure, and sexual battery (felony),
7 weeks later, District Attorney Jeff Rosell offered him a plea deal: plead guilty to one count of sexual battery/ attempt to arouse, and the felony sexual battery, and the two rape/ mayhem charges disappear.
He took the deal, and was sentenced 2 months later. The honorable Marjorie Carter sentenced Nelson to 248 days in jail/ time served (124 actual), and 24 months probation. He is to register as a sex offender for life.
Well… just 3 months later, and he let his “Megan’s Law” registration lapse. He was arrested today by SCPD for that offense, and in the process had his crack pipe taken away. The cubicle people revoked his probation status. (SCPD Case# 25S-00394/ Booking# B-614674)
This criminal committed two rapes, served 124 days in jail for it, and he’s already reoffending.
