Dear Team Free Sanitary Pads Supporters, 

Honored to announce a step in the right direction, that the #TeamFreeSanitaryPads petition calling for a Menstrual Health Rights Bill and Law has been approved by the National Assembly and Speaker of Parliament, with over 40 000 signatures.

In August 2024, the Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Thoko Didiza referred the Petition to the following relevant Parliamentary Portfolio Committees and the Ministers in the RSA Presidency:

a) Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities to
revive the petition for consideration and report - as we marched in 2022 with over 31 Organisations and made initial submissions, further submissions were made in 2023 and 2024.

b) Portfolio Committees on Basic Education, Health, Higher
Education and Training, Finance, and Employment and Labour, for consideration - per the signed Memorandum of Demands,

and

c) Forwarded the petition to Ministers of Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Basic Education, Health, Higher Education and Training, Finance, and Employment and Labour for consideration.
