Dear Supporters,
thank you all for your tireless committed support as we push together through our collective activism to emancipate young girls & womxn in our fight against period poverty. With close to 12 000 supporters, our continuous mobilization accross all social media platforms as well as reaching out to Honorable Members of RSA Parliament together with various stakeholders, it would seem we are making progress.
SABS, which is the South African Bereau of Standards has made a commitment ( see point 1.3 pillars of suggestion per MHM Bill proposal) to standardize reusable menstrual sanitary pads; to be finalized and implemented in March 2020. SABS seems to be in support of the upliftment of Local Manufacturers which has always been part of our main objectives as Team Free Sanitary Pads, so as to boost economic growth as well as job creation whilst bringing purposeful impact in our communities.
Although this is a step in the right direction, more needs to be done to make sanitary pads as accessible as condoms through a Menstrual Health and Hygiene Bill.
Let's continue mobilising and putting pressure on the South African Government to prioritise young girls & womxn.
Thank you for all that you do to eradicate period poverty, together we will create a brighter future for young girls & womxn, in essence a brighter future for all.
