As internet shutdowns continue across Iran, thousands remain missing, with families unable to locate loved ones or even confirm whether they are alive. Inside the country, relatives search hospitals, prisons, morgues, and rows of body bags, desperately looking for answers.

Beyond Iran’s borders, families face a different but equally devastating reality: they cannot reach their loved ones at all. Cut off by blackouts, they are left in silence until tragedy reveals itself in the most unexpected ways. On January 18, 2026, an Iranian woman attending a solidarity protest in London suddenly recognized her brother’s photograph among those brutally murdered by the regime. Her story reflects the anguish of countless families denied truth and closure.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Iran has warned that the true death toll could reach 20,000 or more. Without internet access, families cannot share names of the missing, journalists cannot document abuses, and accountability disappears.

This is not just a communications crisis—it is a matter of life and death.
Restoring internet access is essential to finding the missing and preventing further atrocities.
