I’m pleased to share an important update on our petition calling for urgent action on the A264 flooding and the need for permanent, safe access to Kilnwood Vale and neighbouring communities.

Thanks to your support, we gathered 1,125 signatures in just one week. This is a powerful message that the current situation is unsafe, unsustainable, and unacceptable for residents, road users, and emergency services.

Today, I formally submitted our petition to West Sussex County Council, along with a detailed letter outlining the community’s concerns and the urgent need for a coordinated, long‑term solution.

To ensure full transparency and maximum impact, the letter was also shared with:

WSCC Cabinet Member for Highways & Transport
WSCC Leader and Chief Executive
WSCC Highways and Flood Risk teams
All County Councillors along the A264 corridor
Horsham District Council leadership
District Councillors for Colgate & Rusper and Southwater South & Shipley
MPs for Horsham and Crawley
Metrobus
Crest Nicholson
Preim
This ensures every agency with responsibility or influence is aware of the scale of the problem and the strength of public concern.

We have requested:

A formal written response
A clear action plan
A timeline for resolving the flooding and access issues
Permanent, safe access via the Sullivan Drive roundabout
Safe, reliable access for all road users and neighbouring communities
I will continue to keep you updated as soon as we receive a response from WSCC or any of the agencies involved.

Thank you again for standing together on this. Your voice truly matters, and this petition has already made a significant impact.

With gratitude,
Viviane Allen
Petition Organiser, Kilnwood Vale Resident & Small Business Owner in Horsham
