URGENT ACTION: Repair and Rehabilitate the R330 Road between Humansdorp and St Francis Bay

PETITION: URGENT ACTION REQUIRED ON THE R330 BETWEEN HUMANSDORP AND ST FRANCIS BAY
We, the undersigned businesses and members of the Kouga business community, call for urgent action to address the deteriorating condition of the R330 between Humansdorp and St Francis Bay/Cape St Francis.
This vital route is used daily by residents, workers, businesses, delivery vehicles, school transport, emergency services and visitors. Severe potholes and damaged road sections are creating dangerous conditions, increasing the risk of accidents, vehicle damage and costly delays.
The road is also critical to the local economy, particularly tourism, hospitality, retail, agriculture and other businesses that depend on safe and reliable access.
We acknowledge that the Eastern Cape Department of Transport has advertised a rehabilitation tender for this section of the R330 under Tender No. SCMU10-25/26-0022, which closed on 21 April 2026. Multiple bids were received.
We therefore call for:
1. Immediate repairs to the most dangerous potholes and damaged sections.
2. Clear communication on the current status of the rehabilitation tender.
3. Confirmation of the appointed contractor, commencement date and implementation programme, once finalised.
4. Regular updates to affected communities and businesses on the progress of the rehabilitation.
The Kouga business community respectfully calls for urgent action to make the R330 safe and to ensure that the planned rehabilitation moves forward without unnecessary delay.
