It shows what so many of us already know. A&E departments are overwhelmed with mental health cases. People in crisis are waiting hours, even days, for help. Beds are vanishing. Staff are burning out.

But we need to go deeper. Why is this happening?

Because community care is failing.Because GPs are under-resourced. Because mental health teams are overrun.

I’m living this right now. I was referred to the mental health team — they sent me back to the GP. No medication. Another review. Then back to the mental health team. Still no joined-up care. Still no action.

Just departments passing the buck while people fall through the cracks.
This is exactly how people end up in A&E in crisis.

The system isn’t broken it’s been neglected into dysfunction.

We’re calling for real investment in mental health from GPs to crisis care.
