As I updated earlier in the week Danilo, “El Sexto” was moved to a dangerous maximum security prison this week, yet he has not been formally charged with anything. As all of you know in the hours after the death of Fidel Castro he made a short video where he spoke of the death. He also made a small piece of wall art, with the words, se fue. He has gone. Graffiti art is payable by fine in Cuba. But this is not about that. It is about the use of his voice. It’s about freedom of speech. Unfortunately, Human Rights Foundation reports today that Danilo was denied visits with the international human rights attorney that arrived in Cuba yesterday. We thank you for continuing to tell his story. He Danilo is deeply committed to his calling in art and in being a voice for human rights. As many of you know he has a young child, one he penned his open concern for from prison recently. Thank you for speaking on his behalf, as they attempt to silence his voice and thank you for continuing to share. You are really making a difference. The petition is being used to show support for him and for his and all human beings basic human rights. Thank you. Como les comente previa mente Danilo, “El Sexto” fue trasladado a una prisión de máxima seguridad. Pero todavía no hay un cargo contra él. Como muchos ya saben, en las horas después de que falleciera Fidel Castro, Danilo hizo un video referente a la muerte y una pequeña muestra de arte en una pared, con las palabras se fue. Grafiti se multa en Cuba y se paga por multa. Pero esto no tiene que ver con eso. Esta detención es por el uso de su voz. Es el derecho básico de la libertad de expresión. Desafortunadamente hoy la fundación de derechos humanos, Human Rights Foundation, ha comentado que Danilo ha sido negado el derecho de ver a su abogado de derechos humanos internacional que ellos han proveído. Les agradecemos que continúen dialogando lo que está ocurriendo. Danilo está completamente entregado a su arte y a su llamado para los derechos humanos. Como muchos saben es padre y el mismo escribió sobre su preocupación por su hija desde la cárcel.
