Urge Warner Bros. Discovery to Create a Third 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' Live-Action Movie

Urge Warner Bros. Discovery to Create a Third 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' Live-Action Movie
The Issue
As a lifelong fan of Roald Dahl's 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', I have cherished watching 1971's 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' and the 2005 Tim-Burton-directed film adaptation. Moreover, the prequel, 'Wonka', and the animated 'Tom and Jerry's crossover with the 1971 film have only furthered my love for this fantastical story. Yet, with almost a decade since the last major adaptation, we believe it is time for another journey into Willy Wonka's whimsical world. Therefore, we insist on a third live-action movie adaptation, shining a new light on this beloved tale that has touched countless hearts for generations.
In the potential new adaptation, we scrutinize that the character of Violet Beauregarde is depicted as she is in the 2013 West End musical. This version of Violet, performed by an African-American child actress, provides a fresh perspective and promotes diversity in storytelling, empowering children of all backgrounds to see themselves in these magical narratives. The increasing need for representation in the media is evident- according to a 2019 USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative study, only 27% of lead actors in top-grossing movies were from racial/ethnic groups.
By remaking this childhood favorite with modern passions and progressions in mind, Warner Bros. Discovery has a ripe opportunity to inspire and entertain a new generation of viewers, continuing the legacy of Roald Dahl's magical story. It's time for a third round of whimsical wonders, inclusive storytelling, and toothsome surprises! Sign this petition if you agree!
