We have heard from individuals involved in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Wrestling Branch that the classical wrestling uniform (that Latifah and those who practice classical wrestling wear) has been approved as an official uniform option for any and all female athletes in the NAIA system who want to wear it! This is thanks to the coaches who believed in Latifah and all of the incredible support both here and offline for the inclusion and growth of women’s wrestling!

That said, UWW still maintains its position that Latifah cannot wrestle in a classical wrestling uniform at UWW sanctioned events! NAIA allowing it gives even more proof that it is, and should be, an acceptable uniform choice across all wrestling platforms. Keep up those emails to UWW and tell them to let the classical uniform be an option for all female athletes! Share this win with UWW and pressure them to make women’s wrestling inclusive and welcoming to all!
