M&S are certainly leading the way in sustainability as a supermarket chain. They have a very comprehensive and impressive 'Plan A' whereby they have pledged plan to improve significantly in their environmental practices, sustainability and ethical standards by 2025. This includes sustainability in farming, animal welfare, ethical trading and reducing carbon footprint. Reading their document on their Plan A commitments is certainly encouraging (it is available online). However, despite the promise to make all their plastics 'widely recyclable' by 2022, we cannot guarantee these plastics will not end up in landfill and therefore the ocean. This is because the power is still in the consumers hands and many people still throw plastic in the general waste bin despite its ability to be recycled. We would like M&S to consider starting to switch some of their plastic packaging to paper, cardboard or biodegradable plastic options. This would be a huge step in reducing our negative impact on our oceans and beautiful marine life. If you have a spare moment, please contact M&S about this. Let them know their customers would like to see them take their environmental pledges that one step further to safeguard our oceans: FACEBOOK https://m.facebook.com/MarksandSpencer/ ONLINE CONTACT FORM http://www.marksandspencer.com/s/contact-us?&mcptredirect&mcptlink POSTAL ADDRESS: Marks & Spencer Plc PO Box 3001 Sheffield, S97 3GN Thank you for your ongoing and incredible support for this campaign.
