Friends of Northern New Mexico College, In February, the NNMC Administration asked the New Mexico Legislature to change Northern New Mexico College's name to Northern New Mexico "University." This is costly and misleading name change. NNMC Administration has drafted Senate Bill 603, which will now be scheduled on the House Floor for consideration. We believe it is important to oppose the name change bill, as it comes at a time of crisis and contraction for our college. In the last year alone under the leadership of this Administration, NNMC has lost 21% in enrollment. Today, NNMC is at an historical low of less than 800 full-time equivalent students.
