On this last week before what would have been Andrew’s birthday (forever 36), we have 741 signatures. On behalf of our family, thank you to all who have signed the petition to rename CR 616 in Sussex County where the accident happened to “Benavente Memorial Way.”

We ask for one final push - please reshare this petition with all your friends and family that you know have not signed yet.  Let’s get the couple hundred we need to reach our goal of 1,000 signatures by this Monday. We will be sending the signatures to the Sussex County Board of Commissioners next week, to commemorate Andrew’s first heavenly birthday.  

On another front, we have reached out to our representative in the state senate to see what we can do to strengthen distracted driving laws here in New Jersey.  Currently, the laws do not penalize drivers too severely and our ultimate goal is to have the laws upgraded to penalties similar to those imposed on drivers under the influence. We will continue to keep you posted on our progress.
