Confused and seeking clarification, I reached out to Snapchat's support team, only to be met with an automated message directing me back to their rules – rules that did not apply since my account was by no means banned.

The revelation was that my device, not my account, faced a permanent ban with no prior warning or justification. This harsh punishment restricts many users from accessing their personal life memories photos, messages, and friends list, which they have built over years. The only fault on our part seems to be updating an app we trust.

Snapchat's device ban enables them to block your device from signing into any Snapchat account for 6-8 months. It's an inordinately long time, considering the ban's implementation can be arbitrary and could even be mistakenly applied. Without a clear pathway to contest or negotiate, users are left stranded without access to their personal accounts.

This petition urges Snapchat to reconsider its device ban duration. A week-long ban would seem considerably more reasonable and just, giving users an opportunity to correct their actions without being cut off from their social network for an extended period.
