Rose Bowl Riders Needs You Today: Please Join Us at City Council

Thank you to everyone who has signed this petition, shared our story, written letters, and spoken up for Rose Bowl Riders. Today, Tuesday, October 20, we need you to stand with us at Pasadena City Council.

Monday’s Pasadena Star-News coverage puts our fight back in the spotlight, with a headline that captures both an important opportunity and the uncertainty we still face: “In Pasadena, a Brown Act complaint wins a public forum for Rose Bowl Riders but lease termination looms.”

Read and share the Pasadena Star-News article here.

Here is why today matters:

The Council will consider the lease decision for public discussion. Following a complaint alleging violations of California’s open-meeting law, the City will reconsider the original termination notice. This gives our community an important opportunity to speak directly about Rose Bowl Riders’ future.

The threat to Rose Bowl Riders remains. City staff is recommending that the Council withdraw the original notice and authorize a new termination notice with the same January 31, 2027, deadline to vacate. Withdrawing the first notice alone would not protect our future.

We need the Council to choose a path forward that preserves this community. We are asking Councilmembers to reject a new termination notice and work with Rose Bowl Riders toward a stable lease that supports our riding programs, the care of our horses, and expanded public access.

For 80 years, Rose Bowl Riders has been part of Pasadena’s community. That history deserves thoughtful consideration, along with the children, families, riders, and horses whose futures are tied to this place.

Come share what Rose Bowl Riders means to you. Tell the Council about the confidence a child found here, the friendships built around caring for horses, or why opportunities to connect with animals and the outdoors matter to our community. Even if you do not plan to speak, your presence matters.

Please share this article, keep circulating our petition, and invite others to join us tomorrow. We have faced difficult moments, but we remain committed to working toward a solution.

Let’s stand together and ask Pasadena to preserve Rose Bowl Riders for the next generation.
