This is a fake petition I have created on Change.org to demonstrate how easy it is to use their platform to spread misinformation. Despite using their ChatGPT tool with the following completely unsupported and made up lies, there was no fact checking of any kind.

"In 2024, Nigel Farage was given £834,000 by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister to spend on improvements in the constituency of Clacton. Records show that none of this was spent in the constituency, but was used to buy a 60-foot luxury yacht called "Rand" currently moored in Calais."

There are growing numbers of petitions on change.org spreading lies and half-truths, some of which have gained thousands of signatures. The creators of these petitions are exploiting change.org's lack of fact checking or even basic filtering as part of a wider effort to discredit the government and other groups on social media.
