Today an East Riding Council working party was on Dunhill Rd - parking had been suspended on a short stretch for about 6 hours. Somebody who lives in the street said they asked the working party what they were doing. The reply was they were boring holes, taking samples and sending them off to a lab to analyse whether the road needs repairing. The road is riddled with potholes and craters. A quick glance is enough to show that the road needs repairing. The Dunhill Road resident’s comments were forthright about how ridiculous they thought this is.

Dissatisfaction, and outright anger, seems to be growing among members of the public about the state of roads and pavements, the latter trashed by KCom with the full support of East Riding Council. More bad feeling has been caused along Carter Street by the granting of planning permission by ERYC for a church at the former Victoria Working Men’s Club. Nothing wrong with the Church in itself. However, it is in a road of terraced housing, quite narrow pavements, in the middle of a dense concentration of HMOs, where parking space is already under huge pressure. ERYC seem clueless at the impact their decisions are having in this area - or they simply don’t care because their clique of people is making money and getting their fixes of press and TV coverage.

The public needs to keep the pressure up on the councils, and national government.

On a different note - condolences to the family of former mayor and councillor and mayor Pat O’Neil, an accomplished lady who genuinely cared.

Thank you to everyone who has signed so far. Keep talking, keep sharing, keep signing!
