Facebook disabled my account on 6/23/25, but it was quite a few days later before I discovered that my phone had been hacked by an international gang of cyber-thieves. I tried to make a small donation for a dog via PayPal…only to be told that “you have to clear up your $4500 overdraft first”! It was coming directly out of my primary bank. Messages from my financial apps were being diverted and passwords had been changed, but I could gain access with face ID. I quickly went into PP and my main banking app, and saw that ALL my savings was gone…and the rest of my funds were scheduled to be sent to various overseas locations. They were buying bitcoin in increments and scheduling it to be sent to the thieves. I was able to cancel the transfers and sell (at a loss) the rest of what they had bought with my money. $800 in insufficient fees were kindly returned by my bank…but this was a HUGE loss for me! I was advised not to share what had occurred at that time. I joined Lifelock, who informed me that my sensitive info had been sold on the dark web after being hacked from a company I once did business with long ago. I knew I hadn’t clicked on any unknown links 😢

Fortunately, an animal-loving attorney friend is trying very hard to contact a GA Facebook attorney on my behalf in an effort to have my account reinstated without my having to file a formal lawsuit. This entire situation has been a real nightmare, and I would deeply appreciate signatures as well as reshares (especially in animal and community groups), lead-in remarks, and donations to promote this petition. My help is needed, and I stand ready to work long hours helping animals (and the people who love them) on FB. Besides being unable to divert dogs from the shelter, or to find fosters, adopters or rescues for them, my heart breaks when I get calls for urgently needed veterinary assistance that I would normally provide by getting the pet to my vet and asking the community to call in donations. I cannot commit to unknown expenses when my funds have been stolen and when I cannot post for donations.
