Three precious dogs who so deserved a real chance have already lost their lives for space in July at Glynn County Animal Services. WHY are you just hearing about this? Some volunteers are sadly fearful of losing their good relationship with the shelter if they post RIPs to memorialize these poor dogs. Others believe there will be more adoptions if people think it’s a no kill shelter. After 13 years of working with this facility, it is my firm belief that: 1) Transparency is everything on the part of advocates 2) People who care will mobilize to help IF they know there’s a crisis 3) There is NO way this community will ever do better until and unless EVERYONE understands the horrible consequences of not keeping dogs safely contained, of not spaying or neutering, of failing to microchip or put other ID on pets, and of not looking at the shelter promptly if your pet goes missing 4) If people learn what can happen to another great dog if a stray is called in or brought in to the full shelter, I firmly believe that many more caring citizens will volunteer to care for the animal in their home during stray hold or to find another responsible person who can, especially knowing that the shelter provides fosters with everything needed.
PLEASE don’t let my voice be silenced! Tell FB that help from every quarter is needed to save lives, including from those who post and share in as many places as I do in a passionate effort to save lives. SHARING THIS POST AGAIN, ESPECIALLY ON ANIMAL PAGES /GROUPS & COMMUNITY PAGES/GROUPS WILL BRING MORE SIGNATURES, ESPECIALLY if you write an introductory note above your share before posting it, and say something about why you think my help on FB is vital, or how you have witnessed me helping you or others. Working to get lost pets home; providing emergency support (veterinary, food, temporary foster) so pet parents can KEEP their pets; rehoming pets who are about to be homeless; donating to others who are helping; fostering; answering urgent questions and giving referrals; recruiting fosters, adopters, volunteers and rescues; and networking all dogs and cats, including those on “the list”, to find fosters, adopters and rescues are ALL important components of the equation that will help to improve animal welfare, in SE Coastal GA and everywhere. Sorry for the book - My heart hurts and I’m not at all good at being powerless to help save lives‼️‼️‼️
