Hi everyone!
I'm writing to thank you all once again for your support and to let you know that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and that we're making progress around the country because people like you are standing up.
In Oregon, a bill was just passed that mandates testing of the state's rape kit backlog called Melissa's Law, named for Melissa Bitter, who was killed by a serial rapist in Portland in 2001. Her mother started a petition on Change.org in support of the bill and over 5,000 people in Oregon signed it!
In Georgia, a bill was passed that will require Georgia law enforcement to find and count untested sexual assault evidence.
This wouldn't be happening without people like you and very soon I'll have some exciting news to share about how you can really help this movement succeed.
Thank you,
Amanda
