Victory! Early voting starts tomorrow, Friday, September 18th

After a little over 2 months, it is time to shut this petition down. We, as a group really over-acheived with our efforts. We received over 900 on-line signatures and more than 250 written signatures. We had 14 of 15 Candidates sign on to our petition, pledging not to support Data Centers that went beyond our listed, strict  restrictions. We will hold the Candidates accountablet to maintain those standards and push the elected Candidates to adopt  an ordinance, equitable to these restrictions.  From experience, it is very hard to acheive results like this in Chesapeake. We did it!
Many people were afraid of retaliation by our City Government. We have at times been a divided, split communitty. However, not on this issue. We really came together and helped each other out for the greater good of our City, the whole City!
Thanks so much to everyone that helped in any way. Please remember, we can come together to fend off threats to our shared vision of Chesapeake. I urge everyone to volunteer for the Candidate of their choice who signed, and to remind them of the commitment, they have made.
