This is the email I sent to Tony Burke today, as my local federal minister couldn’t help. Asylum Seeker Rource Centre suggested contacting the UNHCR -I’ve tried both Australia and Turkey offices a while ago and got no response.

Dear Tony Burke

I am writing out of desperation to help my brother in law in Turkey. He is a modern slave-being paid zero dollars last month for full time work he has done because of his nationality. He is at risk of homelessness as extended family with Iran bank accounts can’t access their money in Tehran because of war. It is hard for me to support him being a family of 6.

Turkey has the highest number of refugees in the world according to your own immigration documents.

Please prioritise my brother in law and other refugees in Turkey who are needing a safe country to live in.
