The international freelance platform UpWork is mass-blocking freelancer accounts. For about a week, there has been complete lawlessness on the part of the UpWork platform, and mass complaints from people are being ignored by this platform. 

Here's the situation: UpWork has implemented a new verification system. Many users received requests to reconfirm their identity, even though many freelancers had been verified multiple times. Typically, a passport is used for this. After people submit their information and a photo of their passport, their account gets permanently banned. 

Reason: forgery or falsification of documents. Of course, all freelancers are sending real passports and not faking them in any way.

After such a ban, UpWork refuses to communicate with any requests or explanations from freelancers that it was a mistake and they didn't falsify anything. All responses from support are highly scripted, with no opportunity to interact with real people, as if an artificial intelligence is responding.

Freelancers from countries such as the USA, Poland, and many other EU countries, and beyond, are facing this situation.

In the comments on social networks like LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter), people are writing about this problem, but the platform simply ignores it.

People have thousands of dollars left in blocked accounts that they cannot withdraw. Many freelancers had excellent profiles with earnings totaling over $100,000, and if everything remains the same, they will lose everything they have worked for over the years.
