Here’s the latest on the Kettner and Vine proposed mega shelter:

We have just learned today that the city council is meeting a second time in closed door session on Monday, May 13th at 10a in council chambers to review the new lease agreement that has been negotiated by Todd Gloria and the owner of the proposed shelter property.  Attached is the agenda that just came out today.

Even after we flooded the city council offices and the mayor’s office with messages of opposition, we have been absolutely ignored by city hall.  As community members who will be impacted by this flawed housing proposal, why hasn't city hall done any community engagement?  

Instead, the council sees fit to move forward with their private meeting to discuss an agreement that will be paid for by taxpayers and we are not even given an opportunity to hear what the revised terms are nor to be able to review the lease.  How is that possible?  Did you buy your house that someone else negotiated without letting you know what you agreed to in price and terms at close of escrow?  Well, that’s what’s happening here.

We are having a DEMAND TRANSPARENCY Protest at the bottom of the stairs on C Street at  the entrance to city hall at 202 “C” Street at 9am on Monday, May 13th.  Please bring your creative signs or the No on Kettner and Vine signs that were given out at the April 22nd protest. 

 Saturday May 18th at 12:30pm

We have a TownHall meeting scheduled for May 18th at 12:30pm at the Mission Hills Library. Please plan on attending.
