Your efforts made a great difference already. Prior to creating this petition - that you so graciously signed - The Yenze Group contacted multiple decision makers at eTV requesting it resume daily posting of its popular shows (soapies). We were given the run around, and told to subscribe to VIU.
After informing eTV that VIU's limited access restricts most international viewers, we were given no further solutions. They basically ignored us! We have learned that it is a financial decision for eTV to shift to the paid service of VIU. eTV wants to monetise its shows viewed outside of South Africa. They want us to pay to view these shows. YouTube uploads are free, so they do not see value in continuing the free viewing.
So, here is what is next:
We will submit our growing list of petitioners to the Director of Online Programming. And remind eTV that having international viewership is important within a global market. We will shift future priorities based on their response.
