LaSalle College, Montreal QC, has been unjustly burdened with a $30 million fine levied by the Quebec government. This penalty came into being because of restrictions on English-speaking students' enrollment, a clear violation of our English language education rights and freedoms. Around the world, education in English is recognized and permitted, but here, we find ourselves silenced.

Thousands of students who wish to pursue their education in English are faced with a significant barrier. This situation is alarming, especially considering that in Quebec, 45% of people are bilingual, reported by the Office québécois de la langue française. This figure reflects the value we place on multi-language learning and its role in globally connecting Quebec's citizens.

The federal government should play its part in upholding the rights and freedoms of English-speaking students in Quebec. Discrimination based on the language of education is not what we expect in a progressive society. It is time for the Federal government to stand for our rights.
