CONGRATULATIONS! The Columbia County library is now shelving books in a more age-appropriate manner thanks to YOU! Consider signing this petition as the next step!
You may have heard that our GA State Senators recently passed Senate Bill 74 designed to REPEAL Georgia's infamous "Library Obscenity Exception" law. The original intent of the obscenity exception was to protect libraries from prosecution if a child saw, for example, a topless native woman on the cover of National Geographic. Now, we all understand, in 2025, that accidental viewing of a topless woman on the cover of National Geographic is NOT the primary concern in libraries today!
With responsible shelving policies in place, libraries can ensure that inappropriate materials are shelved where they will not be accidentally browsed by children and these policies will help libraries throughout the State comply with SB74.
Please sign the sister petition to this one to get obscene materials out of Georgia's libraries and protect our children. Don't let libraries use YOUR tax dollars to buy obscene materials anymore.
Thank you for protecting children's innocence!
