Upgrade Dangerous Zebra Crossing on Fordwater Road, Chertsey to Pedestrian Traffic Lights
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and users of Fordwater Road (B387) in Chertsey, are calling on Surrey County Council to urgently improve the safety of the zebra crossing outside ChiroCulture, KT16 8HT.
Drivers frequently fail to stop at this crossing, creating dangerous situations and repeated near misses. The crossing is heavily used and located close to schools, a GP surgery, and residential housing, putting children, families, elderly residents, and patients at risk.
We believe the current zebra crossing is no longer adequate and request that Surrey County Council upgrades it to a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing (such as a puffin or pelican crossing), along with any necessary safety or traffic-calming measures.
This change would significantly improve pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of serious injury or worse.
We urge Surrey County Council to listen to local residents and take action before a serious accident occurs.
