Every day, hundreds of students, including my own children, traverse Roots Road to get to Laerskool Parksig. They share this vital route with daily commuters, busy parents, and residents. It's a lifeline for many, and yet, it remains in a dangerous state of disrepair.

Currently, Roots Road is riddled with potholes, lacks adequate signage, and has insufficient lighting, making it perilous for pedestrians and drivers alike. According to community surveys and feedback, over 80% of area residents express concern about road safety when using this busy thoroughfare during peak hours. Furthermore, statistics from last year's municipal safety report highlight Roots Road as one of the top five accident-prone areas in our township.

The sheer volume of traffic, combined with the road's deterioration, creates a hazardous environment where accidents are not only possible but likely. For many parents and guardians, the daily school run is fraught with anxiety, worrying whether their children will reach school and return home safely. We also urge the implementation of speed-reducing measures to safeguard our school-going children and other pedestrians.
