Now Ban Ki-moon's Promoted Son In Law Uses Military Man to Trash Office Ban Evicted ICP From
Sep 9, 2016 — The corruption in Ban Ki-moon's UN which Inner City Press was covering when Ban and his Under Secretary General Cristina Gallach decide to oust then evict it has gotten worse, as has Ban's fight-back.
On August 25, after reporting on Ban's waiver of UN ethics rules for his mentor Han Seung-soo, Inner City Press asked Ban's spokesman Stephane Dujarric why Ban had promoted his own son in law Siddharth Chatterjee to the top UN job in Kenya, without even recusing himself.
Ban's spokesman was dismissive, then returned the next day with a prepared statement that confirmed that Ban had sign the letter of appointment, and had not recused himself. (Inner City Press put this into a quick 20 minute YouTube https://youtu.be/4-4uTC-7gug )
Dujarric refused to name any of the members of the “inter-agency panel” he said had recommended the son in law, whose previously promotions under Ban Inner City Press had also covered.
In fact, when an Inner City Press story about this nepotism was picked up in the media in Chatterjee's native India, Chatterjee threatened to sue, and also offered inducements -- jobs in Ban's UN -- to prevent future coverage. When asked about this, Dujarric called it a “ridiculous accusation,” and ended the UN briefing. https://youtu.be/fy8w4k5uKRU
This time, after Inner City Press' coverage was picked up in the Sri Lankan media http://www.sundaytimes.lk/160904/news/un-chief-gives-top-post-to-his-ipkf-son-in-law-207657.html now Team Ban is defended by an Indian military man, active as Chatterjee's commander in the controversial Indian Peace Keeping Force in northern Sri Lanka, who has written in the Huffington Post http://www.huffingtonpost.com/major-general-dalvir-singh-retd-pvsm-vrc-vsm/siddharth-chatterjee-is-a_b_11911342.html about the coverage by "a blogger of questionable credentials, poor ethics and a filthy office."
Not anymore! Ban Ki-moon evicted Inner City Press to (try to) prevent such coverage.
Inner City Press is still confined to Ban's minders or “escorts” to cover meeting on the UN's second floor; its long time office sit empty unused by the Egyptian state media Akhbar al Yom it was given to, while Inner City Press hunts for place to edit Vine and Periscope videos of Ban's corrupt UN Secretariat and the wider political landscape in the run-up to the UN General Assembly meetings.
This petition has been directed at Ban Ki-moon and is still worth signing - but now must be directed beyond Ban, as his Team has shown its hand. We'll have more on this.
