As the UN pretends to reconsider its false statements that Inner City Press still has “full access” (even as ICP is Banned from the Security Council stakeout, or is required to have a UN minder), on March 28 Ban Ki-moon's top lawyer issued a threat of imminent eviction to ICP https://www.scribd.com/doc/306233592/Ban-Ki-moon-Threatens-Eviction-After-Inner-City-Press-Covers-UN-Corruption Just as on the UN bringing cholera to Haiti, Ban's lawyer Miguel de Serpa Soares (pictured with Ban) concludes with a smug assertion of the UN's absolute immunity, really, impunity. This ramped-up threat occurs even as Under Secretary General Cristina Gallach falsely claims on Twitter that Inner City Press has full access, while purporting to listen to detailed description of (her) exclusions of Inner City Press from covering even the Security Council. Here is a photo of Gallach's false tweet, to a Western Sahara supporter: https://twitter.com/innercitypress/status/713609692983984128 Ironically, the sham media identified in the indictment of former President of the UN General Assembly John Ashe and Macau-based businessman Ng Lap Seng last October, South South News, has been allowed by the UN to keep its office all this time. By contrast, Inner City Press now faces imminent eviction for seeking in late January to cover South South News' contributions to the UN Correspondents Association, which then gave a photo op with Ban Ki-moon to Ng Lap Seng. Today's UN prefers a corrupt media to an investigative one, and its lack of rules allows it to act on this. Inner City Press has written an open letter to US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, here: http://www.innercitypress.com/uspower1icpopenletter032816.html But more is needed - all support and advocacy appreciated.
