What motivated me to start this petition? Well, I first heard about Javier’s story on MSNBC where Rep Ritchie Torres and Rebecca Press were talking about Javier’s situation and about his freedom from fear. 
What does freedom from fear mean? It means being able to continue on with your daily life knowing that you are safe and nothing can hurt you. This should apply to everyone including immigrants (documented or undocumented), men and women, racial ethnicity, etc.  

I feel like Javier Castillo Maradiaga deserves that freedom and not just from ICE custody but freedom from xenophobia and racism. He deserves to be with his family and friends and that’s what motivated me to fight for his freedom.
